Pittwater Golf Club Inc. is situated at Midway Point, approximately 25km south-east of Hobart, Tasmania. The club features a picturesque nine hole golf course set along the shores of Orielton Lagoon, a RAMSAR wetland of international significance. The course is fully irrigated using recycled water, allowing for lush green fairways, tees and greens all year round.
Love gin and whiskey? Build your new home near a modern distillery. About 14km south of Midway Point at Forcett, Nonesuch is yet another of Tasmania's new breed of hooch-makers, bottling up dry gin, sloe gin and sloe malt whisky (sloe being a purple-black berry fruit, something akin to a juniper). Open sporadically; call ahead to arrange a visit.
Do you love surfing, family picnics, walking, jogging and other water activities? Located 17km from Midway Point is Seven Mile Beach. It is a popular beach and the closest surfing beach to Hobart. Seven Mile Beach is 10km (7 miles) long, facing south east, curving round to face south to south west at the eastern Sandy Point end.
Sorell Fruit Farm is located just 6km from the Midway Point. Pick your own cool climate fruits at Sorell Fruit Farm from mid October to early May. Tasmania’s cool climate gives extra flavour to its cherries and berry fruits - which are the farm’s specialty.
Find hidden treasures! The Sorell Antiques Centre, operated by 12 independent Tasmanian antique dealers, offers a diverse range of antiques and collectables.
Less than 30 minutes drive from Midway Point is Tasmania's capital city - Hobart, the second oldest capital in Australia, after Sydney. Located at the entrance to the Derwent River, its well-preserved surrounding bushland reaches close to the city centre and beaches line the shores of the river and estuary beyond.
Just East of Midway Point is the Orielton Lagoon, a nature reserve with locally significant flora and fauna and home to many resident Tasmanian shorebirds and seabirds, including Australian Pied and Sooty Oystercatchers, Red-capped Plovers, Caspian terns and Silver, Kelp and Pacific Gulls.
